Your BMW electric vehicle can authenticate itself independently at public charging stations, depending on the model and country of delivery, using your charging contract stored in the vehicle. This function is called Plug & Charge.

Plug & Charge availability:

• BMW i5 (incl. touring), iX2, iX, and i7:
  Available from July 2023 production.
• BMW iX1:
  Available from November 2023 production.
• BMW i4:
  Available from July 2024 production.

Subsequent activation (retrofit):
Subsequent activation of Plug & Charge is possible for the following models:

• BMW i7:
  Production date from July 2022.
• BMW iX:
  Production date from March 2023.
• BMW i4:
  Available from July 2023 production.

Visit your local BMW workshop and ask for a “Plug & Charge Retrofit”. You can ask your dealer for your BMW’s production date if required.

Future developments:
Further BMW electric vehicles will receive Plug & Charge as standard from the factory or via a software upgrade from July 2024.
