The time each charging event takes to start may vary depending on the charge point operator. This is independent of the authentication method used. To see if the charging event has started successfully, please check
- the status display, for example, on the charging station screen
- the charging status indicated in the vehicle or the My BMW app
- the status information in your BMW’s charging socket
Is the charge point repeatedly prompting you to authenticate instead of displaying a charging status?
Please check whether automatic authentication via Plug & Charge is possible at the selected charge point. You can see this, for example, on your BMW’s Goodbye screen or via the detailed information on the charge point in the My BMW app.
Please note that after an authentication error via Plug & Charge, the vehicle will not be re-authenticated when it is plugged in again. As an alternative, use either the digital authentication in your My BMW app (Charge on the Go) or the BMW Charging Card.
